Houston-Based Businesses Make Surprise Donation to Local Non-profit

HOUSTON – March 8, 2013 – CITGO Petroleum Corporation and Houston-based CITGO Marketer, Sun Coast Resources, Inc., organized a surprise donation for the Houston Furniture Bank in honor of its commitment to “furnishing hope by making empty houses homes.” Sun Coast Resources, Inc. and CITGO presented the Houston Furniture Bank with furniture collected from Sun Coast Resources employees, as well as $500 in CITGO Gas Cards at the Houston CITGO Marketer Meeting on March 5, 2013.

The Houston Furniture Bank provides furniture at no cost to families struggling to make ends meet due to natural disasters, impoverishment, addiction or catastrophic health issues. Since its founding more than 20 years ago, the Houston Furniture Bank has collected almost a quarter of a million pieces of donated furniture and delivered them to more than 23,000 families in need in the greater Houston metropolitan area.

“We have identified a crucial need for families transitioning into independent living situations, and we are working hard to meet that need by collecting and distributing furniture to families without the means to purchase beds, appliances or even kitchen tables,” said Oli Mohammed, founder and Executive Director of the program. “We are so surprised and so honored by these generous gifts from Sun Coast Resources and CITGO. The substantial donation of CITGO gasoline will help us deliver all of the furniture that Sun Coast Resources has collected for us, and it will help us break this vicious cycle of poverty.”

Relieve Efforts Continue While Nor’ Easter Causes Evacuations

It has been well documented that Sun Coast Resources’ emergency fuel response team is the largest emergency fuel responder in the U.S. and has participated in over 40 storm response efforts across America. This Sandy storm team is composed of employees, sub-contractors, vendors, customers, volunteers and even competitors who have all come together harmoniously to deliver fuel relief which has made incredible leeway and should be commended all around. Sun Coast Resources Delivers at Ground Zero

Sun Coast Resources Emergency Fuel Response Team has been busy providing fuel relief to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. Sun Coast has a fleet of almost 200 in the emergency response efforts across New Jersey and New York working around the clock meeting the needs of its customers. The transports, bobtails, ISO’s, tanks, fuel cubes, and totes are constantly being refilled and redistributed with diesel and unleaded fuel and dispersed and rationed amongst the customers. Thanks to our incredible drivers on the road and the command center employees for operating 24/7 to bring relief to those who desperately need fuel to live, operate and function normally.

Sun Coast Resources, Inc. now has over 1,600 employees as of October 2012. This is remarkable for many reasons:

Sun Coast has grown over 400% in the last two years;
In a very difficult economy Sun Coast has continued to flourish and provide customers the best services available, which has allowed us to support American workers by continuing to create hundreds of jobs;
The Sun Coast work atmosphere is encouraging, positive and one of the best places to work.

Just to show how amazing the past few years have been, we wanted to break down our employee numbers for every five years since Kathy Lehne started Sun Coast in 1985.

Here are some very important new promotions to announce!

Lisa Smith will resume her duties as Treasurer and will be responsible for daily cash management, equipment financing, bank reporting, and special projects. Lisa been has been with Sun Coast for 24 years and was one of the Company’s first employees. During that time, she assisted in all facets of accounting and administration in the Company’s formative years. Lisa brings depth and breadth of knowledge related to Sun Coast’s information systems, processes, and business segments. In 2008, she directed the customization and launch of the SAP Platform making her in-depth knowledge of the Company’s systems invaluable during post-acquisition integration.

Marc Bellemare came to Sun Coast in June through the H&W acquisition and has recently been promoted to Operational Accounting Manager. In Marc’s new role with Sun Coast, he is responsible for oversight of all back office functions, including Set-ups, Billing, Payables, and Cash Receipts for all Sun Coast operating segments. Marc is an instrumental part of our process improvement initiative and I am excited to have him on the team. He has over 9+ years in the Fuel and Lubricant industry, all of which has been with H&W. He has served in numerous positions to include Inside Sales, Billing, Director of Customer Service, and Sales Analyst. He has successfully led a number of special projects and has experience in team leadership and organizational processes, including Sarbanes Oxley. Prior to the fuel industry, Marc worked in manufacturing for 20 years in various managerial roles at Compaq Computers (now HP) in Texas and Raytheon Company/Missile Systems Division in Massachusetts.

Phillip Green has joined our Special Operations team, utilizing his extensive knowledge of tank operations; he will become a very important part of our Special Ops team by adding versatility and experience.

Mark Doise was recently promoted from Sales Representative to Tank and Parts Manager. Mark has been very instrumental in managing and restructuring the parts department. Mark has also assisted Phillip with the tank department and will now assume the role of Tank and Parts Manager.

Here is an update on the Houston campus expansion project. More storage, more equipment and more technology to help our customers when and where they need it.

Sun Coast now has close to 1,100 employees in early December 2011. This is remarkable for two reasons:
