Sun Coast is a proud sponsor of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble. Pecos Venuti was our 2015 steer winner. Over the past year Pecos has been training and bulking Bill up to his current weight of 1,400 pounds. Pecos recently won best in class, division champion and grand champion at the Porter Invitational Progress show. Our last update on Pecos and Bill was in January but we will get more information and updates as the HLSR event grows closer.
Dear Sun Coast Resources,
I can’t believe January is already upon us. I guess time flies when you’re having fun doing what you love and loving it even more and more with each passing day. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience having Bill. I plan on making the best of the time I have left together.
January is one of the busiest months for wintertime progress shows that are geared for kids getting their major show animals ready for their target shows. We have to be careful with Bill’s size so we try not to show him two weeks in a row so he doesn’t get worn out or still. We were able to take him to three of them. He and I brought home a buckle, plenty of ribbons, sore feet and endless memories.
Throughout the process of showing Bill every other weekend, I’ve learned almost all of the little tricks to getting him ready to show, as well as the ones that make you stand out in the show ring. With that being said, I can’t wait to use everything that I’ve learned when the Houston Livestock Show rolls around. I’m confident that all of my hard work will pay off in the end.
At this point, Bill weighs around 1,400 pounds. Since there is still a month left of growing time, he is going to show in the Heavy Weight British Division for not only the Scramble Show but also the Market Steer Show. I hope that you are able to make it out to the show while we are there. I’d love to shake your hand and tell you how much I appreciate your sponsorship for Bill and I. These last months have been amazing. Thank you!
Sun Coast Resources wish Pecos the best of luck in the HLSR and in his future endeavors.
