Texas Governor declares state of disaster in response to Tropical Depression Imelda

HOUSTON, September 19, 2019 – Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, has declared a state of disaster for areas experiencing the impacts of Tropical Depression Imelda.

The disaster declaration is in effect for the following counties: Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Hardin, Harris, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Newton, Orange, and San Jacinto.

Numerous flash flood warnings are also in place for many counties throughout southeast Texas and relentless heavy rainfall continues. Street flooding, as well as bayou and river flooding, are also a main concern at this time. Local officials are urging everyone to stay where they are and remain patient for the storm system to pass.
